The cabins are located on Chalk Creek in the heart of the Collegiate Peaks. Gin clear and swiftly moving, Chalk Creek flows directly out of the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness Area. The property sits directly in between Mt. Princeton (14,197') and Mt Antero (14,269') in the Sawatch Range, which encompasses eleven of the twenty-five tallest peaks in Colorado. Salida and Buena Vista are both easily accessible from the cabins. The property is at the entrance to a massive canyon allowing for amazing views, but without the 'canyon shade' associated with properties just to the west. The neighbors and canyon are quiet, and the pace is slow. You’ll share the property with owls, eagles, deer & elk. A quarter mile downriver is Mt. Princeton Hot Springs , it has WiFi, a restaurant, a water slide (Memorial Day to Labor Day) and a small general store. Six miles downstream, Chalk Creek enters the Arkansas River at the entrance to Brown’s Canyon. Known for it’s whitewater and fly fishing, the Arkansas is world class. Most any mountain activity is available right out the door-it's unbelievably beautiful. The Colorado Trail and the Continental Divide Trail are just up the road. 12 miles up, at the head of the canyon, sits St. Elmo, Colorado’s largest ghost town and the trailhead for winter and summer adventures. Monarch Ski & Snowboard Area is 45 minutes southwest, Summit County and Vail are 1 hr 30 min north.
